【開工大吉】Did you see lion dance all around Hong Kong yesterday? After the long Chinese New Year holiday, everyone went back to work yesterday. Shops and companies hang lettuce at the entrance to welcome the Lion which is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the business. Lettuce, in chinese 生菜 (san choi) , has a similar pronunciation as 生財 (sun choi), which means growing wealth and prosperity. The lion will visit shops on the first day of work and eat the lettuce. This practice is known as"採青" (picking the green) in the Chinese community.
